First Days with Braces

Your first days with braces can be a bit of an adjustment, but our friendly and professional staff is here to help you every step of the way. The Doral & Miami Centers for Orthodontics offers advanced treatment options to help residents of Hialeah, Kendall, Miami Springs, and the surrounding areas of Florida achieve a straight, healthy smile.

How Does My Braces Treatment Start?

The very first step of your braces treatment is a consultation appointment. This initial appointment allows us to review your dental history and perform an oral exam. After this, we are able to develop a personalized treatment plan and determine the type of braces or other treatments that will be most effective in correcting your smile. The initial appointment is also a great opportunity for patients to meet our wonderful staff and become familiar with our practice. Your first appointment is also a good time to ask any questions you may have regarding your oral health or our treatments and financial policies.

When Will I Actually Begin Treatment?

After your initial consultation, you can begin your treatment as soon as you’d like. If you are ready after your consultation, we can begin your orthodontic treatment immediately. The application of braces will take approximately one hour. If you would prefer to begin your treatment at a later date, we are also prepared to schedule you an appointment at your convenience.

When Will I Return for Follow-Up Appointments?

Once you begin your braces treatment, you will have to return to the orthodontist every four to eight weeks for tightening, maintenance, and other adjustments. We keep our schedule as flexible as possible to accommodate for the needs of our patients. If you are running late, need to reschedule, or can only come in at certain times, please let us know! We are happy to work with you in order to provide you with convenient and effective care.

Do I Need to Visit the Dentist During My Orthodontic Treatment?

Although we go to great lengths to help our patients maintain oral health during their orthodontic care, it is important to continue seeing a dentist on a regular basis during your orthodontic treatment. Patients are encouraged to continue visiting their regular dentists every six months for routine cleanings and checkups.

If you have any questions regarding your first days with braces, don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have or help you schedule an appointment. The Doral & Miami Centers for Orthodontics proudly offer advanced orthodontic services to residents of Miami Springs, Kendall, Hialeah, and the neighboring areas of Florida.
